Glow Aesthetics in Miami is the kind of med spa that looks like it should be ranking #1 without effort. Celebrity-quality clinic, master injector with a 15-year reputation, Instagram following north of 80,000. Online local search? Almost invisible. Four luxury competitors with smaller followings ranked above them in the Google Maps 3-pack for every high-value aesthetics query.
Four months later, Glow ranked #1 in the local 3-pack for 21 aesthetics queries including “Botox Miami,” “lip filler near me,” and “med spa Brickell.” Consultations booked through search were up 320 percent. This is the full med spa SEO case study.
The challenge: social presence, zero search visibility
Glow had a strong Instagram and a busy referral pipeline. The owner, Dr. M., wanted to diversify off social and into Google. Three audit findings:
- GBP primary category was “Spa.” Med spa, medical clinic, and aesthetic clinic categories were nowhere. Google was filtering Glow out of aesthetics-specific queries.
- One generic Services page covered every treatment from Botox to microneedling to body contouring.
- No before/after content. Treatment galleries lived only on Instagram. The website had none, which is a huge missed E-E-A-T signal for aesthetics.
The med spa SEO strategy
Step 1: Category and GBP rebuild
Primary category switched to Medical spa. Secondaries added: “Aesthetics clinic,” “Skin care clinic,” “Laser hair removal service,” “Wellness center,” and “Cosmetics industry.” Within 9 days, Glow appeared in queries it had been invisible for.
We added every treatment as a structured GBP service entry: Botox, Dysport, Juvéderm, Restylane, microneedling, laser hair removal, CoolSculpting, IPL photofacial, hydrafacial, chemical peels. Each entry had a price range, duration, and short description.
Step 2: Treatment-specific landing pages
We built 11 treatment pages, each 1,400 to 1,800 words. Every page answered the questions a real prospective patient asks:
- What is the treatment and how does it work?
- Who is a good candidate?
- What does the appointment look like?
- How long do results last?
- What is the recovery time?
- What does it cost in Miami?
Every page had MedicalClinic schema with medicalSpecialty set to the relevant procedure, a curated before/after gallery with proper alt text, and a localized FAQ block with FAQPage schema.
Step 3: Before/after content with E-E-A-T
Aesthetics is a YMYL category. Google's search quality guidelines weigh E-E-A-T heavily. We migrated Instagram before/afters into a dedicated Results section on the site with patient quotes (anonymized where requested), treatment details, timeline between photos, and consent notes.
Dr. M. got a full bio with credentials (MD, board certifications, training in aesthetics, professional memberships in ASLMS and AAFE), bylined every blog post, and was attributed on every treatment page. Person schema reinforced entity identity.
Step 4: Review velocity from real patients
Set up a post-consultation SMS that fired 24 hours after each appointment. Scripts asked patients to mention the treatment received (Botox, filler, hydrafacial) and the neighborhood (Brickell, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove).
Over 4 months, Glow gained 67 new Google reviews with around 78 percent naming a specific treatment. Average rating rose from 4.7 to 4.9.
Results, by the numbers
- Map pack: #1 for 21 aesthetics queries across Miami metro.
- Consultations booked from search: Up 320 percent, tracked via the Mindbody booking system.
- Average booking value: Higher than referral, because search captured higher-intent buyers researching specific treatments.
- Reviews: 67 new reviews in 4 months, 4.9 average.
Med spa SEO FAQ
How long does med spa SEO take to show results?
Most med spas see GBP movement in 4 to 8 weeks once category and content are aligned. Map pack rankings for competitive treatment queries usually land between months 3 and 5.
How important are before/after photos for aesthetics SEO?
Very important. Before/after galleries are core E-E-A-T signals for aesthetics. Patients evaluate authentic results before booking. Migrating Instagram before/afters into a dedicated, schema-marked Results section on the site is one of the highest-impact moves.
Can a single-location med spa outrank a chain?
Yes. Med spa chains run thin GBP profiles and shared content across locations. An independent med spa with treatment-specific pages and patient-mentioned reviews outranks chains in the local 3-pack regularly within 4 to 6 months.
